Summer Skiing in New Zealand
Are you looking for an exciting incentive travel option that offers something a little different to your winners? If so, you may want to consider planning incentive travel packages that include a summer snow skiing or snowboarding trip to New Zealand. Since New Zealand is located in the Southern Hemisphere, North America’s hot, sunny summer occurs at the same time as New Zealand’s prime ski season. This creates the perfect situation for offering an enticing incentive travel option that includes a bit of the unexpected.
There are popular ski resorts on both North Island and South Island, with some of the most visited areas being Mount Ruapehu, Methven, Christchurch, Canterbury, Wanaka and Queenstown. On the South Island the Southern Alps boast mountains as high as 3,700 meters with both gentle slopes and steep runs for more advanced skiers and snowboarders. On the North Island, Mount Ruapehu stands at 2,800 meters and is the largest of three volcanoes located in Tongariro National Park. Ski season begins in about mid-June and runs through the beginning of October, providing a perfect window for planning summer or early fall incentive travel.
Most of the ski resort areas are home to plenty of shopping, dining and off-mountain entertainment options, as well as a lively nightlife. For your more extreme sports enthusiasts, you may also want to look into heli-skiing and bungee jumping outfits.
