The Incentive Planner’s Best Friends
The meeting planner in general is not a solitary entity, even though she may be self-employed. More than some of the other event planners, the incentive planner needs a bevy of business friends to help you plan and plow your way to happy clients. Here are a few of comrades you may not have thought of and how they can help keep clients satisfied–and coming back.
Foreign Planners
Although you are the planner in charge, you will need to develop good relationships with foreign planners so that you will have someone to guide you in the details of that country’s travel issues. In turn, foreign planners will hire you to help them when they book travel in the United States. Keep your relationships with them in good shape.
Wine and Liquor Suppliers, Candy Shops
One of the niceties of doing business with you might be a gift of a good bottle of wine with your “thank you” note. Also consider supplying the same for the recipients of the incentive travel gift. Another great gift, especially for the clients or travelers who don’t drink, is world-class chocolate. The great thing about the chocolate is that there are sugarless choices for diabetics.
Tour Companies and Attractions
Keep in contact with all the people with whom you book tours and activities. Do business with them a couple of times and they will start remembering your name; send them thank you cards and they will remember you well; send them little gifts (see above) and they will remember you fondly.
Depending on the type of incentive travel you are arranging, you may be able to think of other best friends. Keep them close and take care of each other, and you will never want for help.
