Wading Through the “Kids Free” Offers in the All-Inclusive Industry

“Free” is always an attractive word, especially when it involves bringing the kids. All-inclusive resorts are a perfect example of using “Kids Free” as a marketing tool. However, what does “Free” really mean within the context of bringing the children?

Kids Play, Eat and Stay Free
At an all-inclusive resort, this generally means the kids are free, plain and simple. Obviously, getting the kids to the resort will cost money because of airfare, but this form of “Free” is a very enticing way to bring families to a resort.

Kids Stay Free
This means that the lodging for the children is free and nothing more. Keep in mind that children may only stay free in the same suite as a parent. It may even mean that children stay free in the parents’ room with the beds that are currently in the room.

Kids Fly Free
Just like staying free, flying free is the only thing that is included in this statement. It seems obvious, but some parents may only see the “Free” portion and assume that everything is free.

Kids Eat Free
All-inclusives that offer free meals for the children generally include drinks, meals and snacks. Be sure to check the details of the offer.

The last thing to investigate is the age group that the all-inclusive resort considers to be a kid and whether or not the rules stipulate one child per paying adult. In general, most resorts consider kids to be kids up until the age of 12. The bottom line when it comes to kids being free is to read the fine print.
