We’re crazy about our pets; they are often an important part of our lives and we want them included in celebrations. When two people marry, they may want their pets to be part of the ceremony. How do you accommodate their wishes and still keep the event from becoming a complete disaster?
An outdoor celebration might be the first choice if the ceremony is going to include the bride or groom’s dogs. Ushers can double as clean up agents and discreetly ply their magic with a pooper scooper should the need arise. After the ceremony, pets could be allowed to play in a fenced, well-supervised section of the grounds, allowing their owners to relax and enjoy the festivities.
If the couple allow guests to bring their pets, it’s better if they are all the same species. For example, most cats become tense and wary in the presence of strange dogs. There must be strict guidelines in order to avoid unwanted conflict.
Provide appropriate food and fresh water for four legged guests. Remind guests that human food can be upset their pet’s tummies or in the case of dogs and chocolate be outright dangerous.
Use a little common sense and relax. It is after all a celebration of two (or more) lives coming together as a new family.
